The Wyoming Sports Wagering legislation has moved past committee review and will now be presented to the full Senate for discussion. The legislation seeks to make online sports wagering legal within the state.
The legislation, introduced by Representative Tom Walters in February, aims to permit online sports wagering in the state.
Last week, the legislation passed the House on a second attempt, with a vote of 32-28, after it was previously rejected by the same margin.
The legislation was then forwarded to the Senate and assigned to the Senate Appropriations Committee, which endorsed the legislation on a 4-1 vote.
The sole amendment proposed by the committee was to modify the effective date of the legislation from July 1 of this year to September 1.
The committee’s approval signifies that the legislation will now be presented to the full Senate for deliberation, and if endorsed, will be sent to Governor Mark Gordon for his signature.
