Tab NZ Announces Leadership Changes and Entain Partnership Success

New Zealand’s gaming enterprise, Tab NZ, has declared a shift in its leadership structure. Mark Stuart, the current head of the board, will be departing his position next week after serving for two years. Anna Stott will assume the role of temporary chair.

Stuart’s time in the position has been characterized as “transformational,” particularly his involvement in securing a new collaboration with Entain. This 25-year arrangement, declared in March, will see Entain provide Tab NZ with wagering and broadcasting abilities.

Stuart conveyed his appreciation for the chance to serve on the board and emphasized the positive influence of the Entain partnership. He expressed trust in the remaining board members and management team to continue developing this collaboration.

Tab NZ’s chief executive, Nick Roberts, commended Stuart for his contributions and expertise.

The leadership of Tab NZ has transformed the lives of countless New Zealanders, ranging from athletic figures to individuals reliant on the domestic horse racing sector.

Stoff, designated as the interim chair, has received approval from Kieran McAnulty, New Zealand’s Racing Minister. She has held this position since August 2021, when she assumed the role of deputy chair. Previously, she served as a board member of the racing industry’s transformative entity.

Stoff stated, “I am enthusiastic about assuming this position, and our focus will be on collaborating with the government to modernize New Zealand’s gambling landscape.”

Tab NZ has also announced modifications to its board. Jason Fleming has stepped down and assumed a new position as Tab NZ’s commercial general manager.

Bill Bernie, Wendy Harvey, and Rewan Lovett remain on the board alongside Stoff.

This announcement follows the successful launch of the Entain partnership, which commenced on June 1st.

Tab NZ indicated that in its initial months, this collaboration has generated funding for New Zealand’s three primary racing disciplines, the New Zealand Sports Council, and 37 national sports organizations that have signed sports betting agreements with Tab NZ.

The Tab NZ-Entain agreement is driving this funding infusion. The company stated when it unveiled the agreement earlier this year that it had joined the partnership due to escalating competition, rising expenses, funding limitations, and other obstacles.

This demonstrates that it has negatively impacted their capacity to adequately finance racing and sporting events.

Entain released a statement soon after the agreement was reached. They declared they would contribute a minimum of NZ$150 million annually to Tab NZ for the initial five years following the deal’s commencement.
