Hard Rock Ottawa Casino Slapped with Hefty Fine for Regulatory Violations

The Ottawa, Canada Hard Rock Casino has received a substantial penalty for numerous infractions. It appears they failed to adhere to anti-money laundering regulations and even distributed marketing materials to individuals who had opted out of communications. Furthermore, they seemingly disregarded their own internal audits and neglected to adequately safeguard their systems against cyber threats. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), responsible for provincial casino oversight, is taking a firm stance. They have emphasized that the Hard Rock Ottawa must rectify its practices and will be subject to rigorous monitoring to ensure compliance.

Similar to other gaming establishments, Hard Rock Ottawa has the option to contest the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario’s (AGCO) decision. A separate entity, the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), would preside over their challenge.

This instance mirrors a previous occurrence in which the AGCO penalized DraftKings Canada $100,000 for violating Ontario’s regulations pertaining to promotions and inducements.
